BOYS HALL ASHFORD – 29TH SEPTEMBER 2007

CREW: Sharon Slatter & Ginette Hobbs
MEDIUM: Pete

INVESTIGATORS: Valerie Carr, Don Ramkin, Michelle Lloyd, Ron Lloyd, Tina Payne, Ross Watson, Charlotte Mustafa, Peter Kemp, Paul Watson

Activity seemed to start as soon as we arrived at the venue.
Don and Pete went for a walk around the grounds where Don picked up on a lady pushing a boy baby in a pram. A father figure wearing a dark wig and a son who was portly and wore a brown wig and corset, possibly with the name ‘Edward’.

They also felt that poetry would have been written outside in the garden and Pete saw a quill.
(Samuel Peeps was a frequent visitor to the house)

A Bowman was picked up on but they were unsure of the surname, possibly linked to archery.

They also sensed the presence of Wolfhound dogs and horses and stables.

In the reception area they sensed a nanny would stand at the window watching the children and a gentleman (father) stood by the fireplace smoking a clay pipe.

We started the evening with a talk, an opening prayer and protection then we went for a walk around the house.

In the Jacobean Room it was felt there were French Connection and that the name of the room was relevant to a family that lived there.

When we walked up the stairs Pete felt that there would have been a terrible accident involving hot water and a maid.

When we walked along the hallway Ron felt like he was being held down and when we entered one of the bedrooms he became very hot.

At the Stable it was felt that at some point in the past there should have been a forge.

Group 1 The Jacobean Room – Glass Divination
Sharon, Don, Peter, Paul, Ross and Charlotte

A lot of communication was received via the glass divination. To start with just a lot of movement of the letters, then contact was made with a boy call Daniel and he said something was hidden. He said he was standing by the fire and was 12 years old.

Don walked over to the fireplace and Daniel confirmed he was standing next to him. He also said that the owner of the house had hurt him by pushing him in the fire.

The Group established that there were 2 other children present, Louise and Sophie.

Daniel had said that he was murdered by his cousin so that the house would pass to him. He said was killed by being pushed into the fireplace.

Contact was also made with an African gentleman aged 35, who said he was not a servant and spelt out the surname OZDAWK and the year 1636. It would appear that the man was paid by the cousin to kill the children who would inherit the house.

Group 2 Upstairs bedrooms – mediumship and calling out
Ginette, Val, Ron, Michelle, Tina and Pete

We went into the oriental room where most of the group felt uneasy on the walk around. In the dark the room seemed different. Val still felt uneasy and Ron was feeling like there was a pressure from above.

Peter: ‘There is a woman here, Isabel or Isabella. This lady wants us out of this room. I have an image of her putting powder on her cheeks trying to look younger than she is as she appears quite old.
She has been here for years, early 19th century. She passed out in the gardens. The garden is not how it used to be.’

Peter walks over to the windows. ‘ This side of the house has totally different feeling from the other side, the energy is very strong of a well spoken, almost snobby women.

Pete felt that the room would have been different, he felt that there would have been two single beds opposite the where they are now and where the oriental bird cage is there should have been an oval mirror on the wall with a kidney shaped dressing table. He could also smell beeswax polish.

If was decided that we should leave the room as the lady was not comfortable with us being there.

We walked along the hallway to the Chantry Bedroom.

There did not seem to be a lot of activity when we first came into the room, so Ginette Michelle and Tina went up the attic room.

Here it felt very claustrophobic and Michelle and Tina started to feel anxious (probably due to the fact that the room was being decorated and also the floor was slightly sloping) Both Michelle and Tina had said they had heard a noise when we had walked up the stairs, and it was heard again when we were standing silent. (no apparent cause for this noise).

We decided to return to the Chantry room and the rest of the team. When we entered the room the atmosphere had changed, it was quite oppressive and Val was crying.

Whilst we had been away, there had been some activity in the chantry room. The remainder of the group had felt a sudden coldness and Peter had sensed the presence of a strong male. Peter was feeling very cold yet his cheeks were very hot.

Peter: ‘I can hear Josephine or something like that, early part of 1700. I feel dizzy!

The man in this room also used another room. A dark haired man, podgy, well built, very fat in the face with brown eyes, well dressed. Old style gentry. He wore a cord style jacket with a fluffy neck. Tight trousers with his sock worn over them and buckled shoes. Edward or Harry

‘when the cats away the mice will play’ is the expression Pete hears.

Pete feels that this man would have had sexual encounters with the children.

The groups had seen a man in a black cape standing by the window and it seemed that the man had wanted his presence known to Val. She had become very hot and sweaty and very emotional.

Pete can see a little girl in the room and Michelle gets touched on the leg, She felt this would have been by a boy.

The Group ended the vigil.

Grounds
Ginette, Don, Ron, Peter, Ros, Paul and Charlotte

The group had a walk around the grounds and on an old tennis court were some stocks which Don was in.

He had the feeling that the stocks were not the original stocks that would have been used in the past. He did sense that he was a female, possibly a servant who had been caught steeling.

Charlotte had a turn and sensed a woman called ‘Annie’ who stole a lady’s brooch from the head lady’s room. It was gold with pearls. She was in the stocks crying while things were being thrown at her. Charlotte started to feel very depressed so we continued our walk around the grounds and then made our way back to the stables.

Stables

Sharon, Pete, Val, Michelle and Tina went into the stable whilst the others did a vigil in the grounds.

They gathered in the stables by the large Stable doors, we turned out the lights, Pete picked up on an angry male who did not treat the horses well, for some reason he was jealous of them.

Pete also picked up on a white horse with a dark stripe on the underside of its throat, he also picked up on a lameness of the front left leg.

Not much more was picked up on until Pete noticed a shadow in the right corner of the stables as you were looking back at the entrance where we came in, then Pete and Sharon started to see sparkly lights high up in the same area, Pete was asking them to show them selves, the lights got brighter and more, suddenly the lights turned into what can only be described as mini shooting stars, this continued for about 5 – 10 minutes.

Sharon then heard talking from outside the stable, she went to investigate – out side was the other group and Marcus the owner, he was in a fluster, he said you wanted me, I replied no, he then explained that over the walkie talkie a female voice said we are in the stables, Ginny had not used her walkie talkie and Sharon had left hers in the Bar area where base was set up.
This could not be explained.

The Stables
Ginette, Don, Ron, Pete, Peter, Ross, Paul, Charlotte and Marcus

After the group settled down after what had happened outside the stables (the unexplained request for Marcus to get to the stables!!)
We did some calling out, and Don sensed the angry man in the corner whom Pete had picked up on earlier.

Ginette walked over to the area where a shadow had been seen and Paul went to join her. The rest of the group started to see sparkly light on the wall above them; this was described as being dancing lights, almost like 3 figures dancing on the wall and greyish in colour. Pete could also see lights which were almost like fairy lights.

Group 1 Upstairs Bedrooms

Not a lot was written down for any activity that may have happened.

Paul, Ros, Charlotte and Peter went up to the very top bedroom and done a small vigil. When the group met up downstairs they were listening to their EVP when a voice, which was none of theirs, said ‘they’re coming’.

Group 2 Jacobean Room – Glass Divination

The group had movement with the glass and seemed to connect with the ‘Master’ of the house. When asked if he could spell out his name a lot letters were spelt out which meant nothing at all.

A noise was heard by the far wall like a little stone had been thrown. Ginette went to investigate but could find nothing.

It was established that there were 4 spirits in the room and two of them were children, one age 5, then a knock was heard.

We made contact with the ‘Master’ again whom we found out was Thomas. We asked him directly if he had had sexual encounters with the children in the Chantry Room and he became very angry. He was asked if he took the children to the stables and he replied no.

Contact was made with a female servant who had fell down the stairs and was burnt by the hot water she was carrying. She prepared the fires for the house. She did not know how old she was, just that she was young and that she could not spell her name. (1808 June was spelt out, we do not know if this is when she was born or if this is when she died)

Pete asked if her name was Josephine and she replied yes. She looked after the children and knew what was happening.

She said she was pushed down the stairs by Thomas because she knew what he did.

Contact was also made with John who said he wanted to dance with Michelle. Pete felt a tap on his head and Ginette felt something by her ear and John confirmed this was him.

The group sat in silence for a little while and a loud bang was heard on the ceiling and a noise like an animal running across the floor (upstairs) Ginette contacted the other group who confirmed they had not made a noise and also Marcus confirmed that his dog was asleep in his basket.
(no explanation can be given for this)

Contact was then made with John, he did not talk very much, just moved the glass around the board very fast.

Group 2 – Planchette – Jacobean Room
Sharon, Pete, Ron, Val, Michelle, Tina

Pete was experiencing a pain in his arm and the Planchette was showing very angry with Sharon. (the reason for this was not found)

Group 1 Scrying upstairs hallway
Ginette, Don, Peter, Ros, Charlotte, Paul

Charlotte – Old man with white eyebrows and sideburns, names George possibly the butler 17th century.

Upper class women, glamorous and does not seem happy.

Ross – Well Built man with a beard and moustache around age 45-50, 1676 John, not happy.

The Ros’s face started to change again and the whole team saw him change into a Black man with white afro hair and white eyebrows. (the team had communicated with an African man earlier in the evening)

Peter - Seemed to take on the features of a wolf, almost werewolf looking.

Ginette – A dark shadow seemed to come over Ginette, the team saw her change into a Viking, with the hat and blonde hair.

Then she felt her face going very stiff and she was finding it more difficult to talk, almost as if there was a mask on her face, the team said she looked like a dead person.

Group 2 – Upper Bedrooms Glass Divination

No apparent communication happened

Group 1

Planchette – no communication happened on the Planchette, however there was a man very close to Charlotte and she felt like she could not move. She had to be removed from the area and took a little while to recover.

Jacobean Room, Planchette & Glass

Not a lot was happening, the glass moved to the letters JW, then JBMCL,
5799

Daniel was by the fireplace and confirmed his age as 12 and Thomas was 48 and he died in the year 1740.
Experiments

Earlier in the evening, Ginette places a trumpet in a cupboard in the Oriental room and unfortunately nobody guessed what the object was.

EVP
Don set up an EVP recorder in the top bedroom. Unbeknown to us this was then locked by a member of staff (in effect becoming a locked off EVP experiment). Once Don retrieved this and listened back to the recording, you can clearly hear the door being locked, then there is the distinctive barking of a dog, sounding tinny at first then very clear, but clearly the dog was in distress. We have ruled out that it was not the dog that was in the house at the time as we know he was in the kitchen and then with us in the bar area.

Other EVP which was captured was a noise in the Stables, the first time by Don, which sounds like 2 things being thrown, the other by Ginette which was a ‘huff’ noise and then what sounded like a child laughing.

We had a lovely time at Boys Hall and felt quite privileged to investigate in such beautiful surroundings; the owners have done a splendid job in refurbishing the Hall.

We will continue to try and verify our findings, but as always without proper dates and surnames it is not an easy task.
